Iran's power production hit 96,000 GW

Iranian electricity production in the current solar year (started on March 20, 2011) reached 96,378 gigawatts per hour, IRNA quoted Energy Ministry data.

The production of thermal plants declined by 0.42 percent while production of water plants increased by 8.32 percent.

Electricity provided during the current year reached 98,015 gigawatts per hour. Compared to last year (ended on March 20, 2011) there has been 0.51 percent growth.

Previously Iran's Energy Minister said that Iran will increase power capacities of new power plants to 4,964 megawatts by the end of the current year and increase the country's power plant production capacities to 62,000 megawatts.

Iran's power development company will complete installments of 25 new power plants this year.
