Iran placed the third heavy crude oil cargo at $101.76 per barrel in the international oil exchange at Kish Island on Wednesday. However, it failed to sell due to a disagreement over price, Fars News Agency reported.
The National Iranian Oil Company placed 600,000 barrels of crude oil from the Behregan oil field but failed to sell when customers demanded a $9 discount.
Iran's heavy oil cargo destination was directed eastward, while the two previous oil cargos were heading toward northeast Europe and the Mediterranean region.
The payment can be made in USD, Euro, Turkish Lira, or United Arab Emirates Dirhams AED to Iran's foreign account.
The second heavy crude oil cargo failed to sell at $113.2 due to disagreements over the price.
Previously, Iran's third attempt to sell a furnace fuel oil cargo was successful on the international oil bourse at Kish Island.
