BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28. The 2nd refinery of Iran’s South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) produced 10.2 billion cubic meters of sweet gas in the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), head of the 2nd refinery Hossein Baghban said, Trend reports.

According to him, the mentioned refinery also produced 10 million barrels of gas condensate in 6 months.

“In addition, 60,000 tons of sulfur were produced by the 2nd refinery for the reporting period,” Baghban added.

The director also said that the 2nd refinery is currently producing an average of 60 million cubic meters of sweet gas, 57,000 barrels of gas condensate and about 340 tons of sulfur daily.

He praised the company’s specialists for carrying out various operations at the refinery that increased its sweet gas production and reduced its burned flare gas volume.

During the past 25 years (1998-2023), Iran's South Pars Gas Company produced 1.96 trillion cubic meters of gas, 2.8 billion barrels of gas condensate, 25 million tons of propane, 16 million tons of butane, and 8 million tons of sulfur.

The SPGC process rich gas is extracted from the South Pars gas field. More than 75 percent of the gas consumed in the country is provided by this company. The company has 12 gas refineries.

The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field between Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
