Saipem's share in "Khankendi" vessel for Shah Deniz, ACG operations revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 12. Italy's Saipem, a multinational oilfield services company, will provide $250 million of the total contracted services for the operation and maintenance of bp's new operations in the Caspian Sea, specifically for the Khankendi subsea construction vessel, Trend reports via Saipem.

Yesterday, bp announced the award of a contract valued at over $300 million to a consortium comprising Saipem Contracting Netherlands B.V., BOS Shelf LLC, and BOS Shelf International FZCO, under the "Single Vessel" strategy, to operate the specialized "Khankendi" vessel for 3 years with an option to extend for another 2 years.

"Of the total contract value, Saipem's share amounts to $250 million, which includes providing crew for offshore operations in the Shah Deniz and Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields," Saipem stated.

The Italian company will also manage the vessel's operations.

Saipem noted its prior experience operating the vessel "Khankendi" in the Shah Deniz field under previous contracts with bp.

Under the new agreement, the scope of work will include:

- General operation and maintenance of the Khankendi vessel,

- Subsea construction and installation works,

- Underwater inspection, maintenance, and repair,

- Providing operational response capabilities for all of bp's operations in the Caspian Sea, including subsea pipelines and production infrastructure, as well as supporting services required during field operations.

To note, Saipem is a global leader in energy and infrastructure projects, with 7 production shipyards and operations involving 21 construction vessels and 15 drilling rigs.

The company maintains offices in over 50 countries and employs 30,000 people. Its shares are listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.
