This year, Azerbaijan International Operation Company (AIOC) will, free of chare, transfer 2.1 billion cubic meters of gas to Azerbaijan within the project of Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli, Trend has been told at the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
In 2007, AIOC intends to transfer nearly 1.4 bln cubic meters of associated gas (cmg), but the talks on this issue still continue. SOCAR wants to receive as large as possible volume of associated gas, the same source told.
Besides, it was stated in SOCAR that BP operator of AIOC is continuing to raise the question of payment of compensation for the lost volume of oil that emerges in relation with delivery of large volumes of associated gas to Azerbaijan. But as before, SOCAR doesnt intend to compensate this volume.
AIOC wants to receive compensation in 2 million barrels of oil.
According to the Production Sharing Agreement on Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli signed in 1994, AIOC should, free of charge, transfer associated gas to Azerbaijan during oil production. The volume that AIOC needs for oil and gas operations in the field is excluded.
