The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine held talks on resuming the Tashkent – Kharkov -Tashkent railway communication, during the Uzbek-Ukrainian business forum in Kyiv, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.
Issues related to regular meeting of the Uzbek-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission in Tashkent, scheduled for spring 2020, were worked out at the event. The sides identified priority areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
"Participation in the event made it possible to discuss the current state of bilateral economic cooperation and explore existing opportunities for its intensification through the elaboration of promising joint investment projects and mutually beneficial trade agreements," the statement said.
Ukraine Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Oleg Yushchenko said at the meeting with First Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Alisher Abdualiev, that Ukraine is interested in a speedy restoration of regular flights with Uzbekistan.
Flights from Tashkent to Kyiv were suspended in 2015 due to the lack of agreement between aviation authorities of the two countries.
In October 2019, the air service was to be resumed, but the Ukrainian side sent a letter to cancel its decision at the last moment.
