ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 26. By presidential decree, Yermek Kosherbayev has been appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and relieved of his previous position, Trend reports.
On September 26, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also signed a decree dismissing Murat Nurtleu as Foreign Minister and appointing him Assistant to the President for International Investment and Trade Cooperation.
On September 4, several media outlets reported the alleged detention of Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu, businessman Hadzhi Hajiyev, and senior officials of the National Security Committee.
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs dismissed the reports as false. MFA Spokesperson Aibek Smadiyarov stated: “The news about the detention of the Minister of Foreign Affairs is not true. We view this as a violation of journalistic ethics and the laws of our country.”
