Transactions via bank cards in Kyrgyzstan increase

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 22. A total of 58.4 million transactions were conducted in Kyrgyzstan via bank cards as of December 31, 2023, which is a 47.5 percent increase year-on-year, Trend reports.

According to data from the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, the total value of these transactions amounted to 225.5 billion soms ($2.521 billion), a 32.6 percent rise from the end of 2022.

The number of cash withdrawal reached 23.7 million, increasing by 10.7 percent compared to the same period of 2022. The total value of these withdrawals amounted to 175.2 billion soms ($1.959 billion), which is a 27.5 percent growth year-on-year.

Transactions carried out through POS terminals in trade and service enterprises of the country amounted to 34.7 million, with a total value of 50.3 billion soms ($562 million). Compared to the previous year, the number of these transactions surged by 90.7 percent, while the transaction value increased by 53.4 percent.

The total number of bank payment cards in circulation in Kyrgyzstan exceeded 6.89 million cards as of December 31, 2023. The number rose by 31.6 percent compared to the end of 2022.
