DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, May 23. The first unit of the Sebzor hydropower plant (HPP) in Tajikistan will be commissioned in June 2025, Trend reports via the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan.
The capacity of the unit will be 3.6 megawatts (MW). As of now, 85 percent of the construction work has been completed, with efforts underway to finalize the remaining tasks.
Tajik Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Jumah, recently visited the Roshtqal’a district in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region to assess the progress of the project. During the visit, the minister met with engineers and project officials to discuss the ongoing construction process.
The Sebzor HPP, with a total installed capacity of 11 MW, is being constructed on the Shakhdara river. Upon finalization, it is anticipated to augment the energy capacity of the Gorno-Badakhshan region by a substantial 25 percent. The initiative aims to optimize the reliability of electrical distribution for regional stakeholders while catalyzing substantial socio-economic advancement within the locality.
