BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 8. The export of agricultural products from Mazandaran province located in northern Iran increased by 100 percent in value and weight during five months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through August 21, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), the customs inspector of Iran's Mazandaran Province Amir Jamshidi told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, a total of 15,000 tons of agricultural products worth $6 million have been exported from Mazandaran province during five months.
Jamshidi added that the most exported agricultural products are citrus fruits worth $3 million. Besides, kiwis, rice, nectarines, peaches, flowers, etc. were exported from the province.
The official noted that agricultural products from Mazandaran province were mainly exported to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Canada, Russia, and other countries.
He stated that 819,000 tons of non-oil products worth $147 million were exported from the province during five months. Compared to the same period last year, the export of products increased by 13 percent in value and 35 percent in weight.
To note, Iran exported 2.65 million tons of agricultural products worth $1.5 billion during five months. Iran's agricultural exports increased by 33 percent in value and 22 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
