BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. Iran's Shahid Rajaei Port has received the first large-capacity oil tanker in southern Hormozgan province, Hossein Abbasnejad, Director General of the Ports and Maritime Administration of the province, told reporters, Trend reports.
The tanker, measuring 183 meters in length, arrived at the port to load 44,000 tons of bitumen at the “Persian Gulf” oil terminal located within the port's complex.
Abbasnejad also provided insight into the port's recent activity, revealing that over the course of the past Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), a total of 1,444 oil tankers were loaded and unloaded at the Shahid Rajaee and Persian Gulf ports, a 3.9 percent increase compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).
The port official noted that since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2025), two vessels carrying essential goods have also docked at Shahid Rajaee Port.
The Shahid Rajaee Port spans an area of 4,800 hectares and is capable of loading and unloading more than 88 million tons of cargo annually. Within its complex, the Persian Gulf oil terminal operates 12 platforms, handling the loading and unloading of crude oil, petroleum products including gasoline, diesel, mazut, bitumen, and other oil derivatives.
