Iran's ICT industry and mobile operators have emphasized on expanding support of domestic production in the information technology industry and communication, especially regarding the 5G equipment, Trend reports via IRNA.
Following an online holding of the 29th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering, technical deputy of Irancell Hassan Bolvardi, has indicated that the company plans to support the localization of ICT.
"Irancell has launched 'Irancell labs' project since 2019 for research and expansion and it is seriously using the power and capacity of small companies for domestic equipment production," said Bolvardi.
"Irancell innovation center is part of 'Irancell labs', and it is used to localize startups," he said, adding that the participation of scientists is also very important.
"Irancell has tested the domestically produced 5G modem and we are on track with mass production," he said.
"Irancell has been studying and doing research on 5G since 2016 and for the first time tested the pilot 5G network in Iran in 2017, as well as launched the first commercial 5G site in 2020, and also operated seven commercial 5G sites in four Iranian cities that are providing services to people," he said.
