BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 12. A total of 268,000 tons of products worth $830 million were imported through Jolfa Customs of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province during the ten months of the current Iranian year, Director General of Jolfa Customs Office Ali Bisalam told reporters, Trend reports.
Bisalam said that the products mainly included raw materials from production facilities, equipment, and others.
He explained that the total revenue of Jolfa customs in 10 months amounted to 46.9 trillion rials (about 83.3 million), rising by a whopping 65 percent compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through January 20, 2024).
Meanwhile, 68,000 tons of cargo have been imported into the country through the Jolfa customs by Iranian and foreign ordinary citizens, and 65,800 tons of cargo have been exported from the country.
To note, the statistics of the Iranian Customs Administration show that Iran imported circa 30.8 million tons of non-oil products worth $56 billion abroad in the 10 months of the current year, meaning growth of three percent in value and a three percent decrease in weight compared to the same period last year.
Iran prioritizes the import of essential products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the import of products that are already produced domestically.
