A lawyer says a Pakistani court has ordered an investigation into allegations that former President Pervez Musharraf illegally detained judges in 2007, reported AP.

The case is the latest legal woe for Musharraf, whose emergency rule measures have been declared unconstitutional and who could still face treason charges.

Attorney Aslam Ghuman, who filed the illegal confinement complaint, says District Court Judge Mohommad Akmal Khan issued the order Monday for police to open a case.

Musharraf, a former general who seized power in a 1999 coup, fired judges who opposed him and ordered many to be put under house arrest in 2007. The actions triggered street protests led by lawyers that eventually led to Musharraf's downfall.
