The United Nations' top human rights official urged Hamas on Friday to cease executions in the Gaza Strip, following the use of the death penalty this week, DPA reported.
"I am deeply concerned by the executions, and the possibility that some others might be carried out soon," said Navi Pillay, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
"It is extremely disappointing that Hamas has now returned to the use of the death penalty," she said in a statement.
The two people executed hailed from Jebaliya refugee camp and the southern city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip. They were shot by firing squad.
They had been sentenced to death one week ago for collaborating with Israel.
Pillay also called for abolishing the use of the death penalty.
