Afghan police, backed by army and NATO-led forces, have eliminated nine insurgents and captured 13 others in the country over the last 24 hours, Interior Ministry said on Sunday, Xinhua reported.
"Afghan National Police (ANP) in collaboration with army and Coalition Forces conducted series of operations in Nangarhar, Laghman, Helmand, Kapisa and Paktika provinces and have killed nine insurgents over the past 24 hours, besides detaining 13 armed insurgents," said a statement issued by Interior Ministry here.
Numerous of arms and ammunitions were also seized during the operations, it further said.
Taliban outfit as the major anti-government group fighting Afghan and NATO-led troops in Afghanistan has yet to make comment.
The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since the militant group announced to launch spring offensive from May 1 against Afghan and NATO-led troops stationed in Afghanistan.
