A senior official with the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently in Washington D.C. to meet with the representatives of the new U.S. administration and exchange views on matters of common concern of Turkey and USA, reported World bulletin.
Speaking to A.A on his visit to USA, Unal Cevikoz, deputy undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that he held talks with Dan Fried, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs and Deputy Assistant Matthew J. Bryza; Christopher R. Hill, Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs; Phillip Carter, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of African Affairs, as well as officials in charge of USA's affairs with South and Middle Asia.
Cevikoz also said that he discussed issues such as NATO-EU cooperation and Europe's security and defense policy with officials from the U.S. Department of Defense.
Cevikoz, who attended a series of meetings held by several U.S. think tanks, is also expected to hold talks with several congressmen and officials from U.S. President Barack Obama's National Security Council this week.
Upon completing his talks, Cevikoz is scheduled to depart from Washington D.C. on Friday.
