Turkey won't allow to explore energy resources from the west shelf divided into Turkish and Greek part and will dismiss the companies, which will take part in this work, from the implementation of energy projects on its territory, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said, the newspaper Sabah reported.
"Turkey has repeatedly declared that it would not allow any activities in these areas," the statement said.
The report said the licenses for exploration of oil and gas resources of the island are given to the Turkish company TPAO by the authorities of Northern Cyprus.
The statement also said companies that do not take into account Ankara's warnings and begin the work on the production of hydrocarbons together with the Greek Cypriots, can contribute to tensions in the region and will be held accountable.
About 30 companies from 15 countries have applied to participate in the tender announced by the Republic of Cyprus to develop its offshore gas field, discovered reserves of which estimated at 140 - 230 billion cubic meters. The decision to start production of hydrocarbons is expected to be adopted within six months.
