Azerbaijan`s First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP Mehriban Aliyeva expressed on Tuesday her gratitude to the European Parliament for hosting the Azerbaijani cultural days.
This cultural event is an indication of the true good will and the general interest of the European Union towards the culture of Azerbaijan which is on the crossroad of the western and eastern civilizations, she said in statement read by the Azeri Ambassador to Belgium and the EU, H.E Emin Eyubov during the inauguration of the Azerbaijani cultural days.
The unique geographical position of Azerbaijan contributed through its rich history to formation of the distinctive social and cultural environment with the multi central tradition of tolerance which allows people of different ethnic, religious and culture backgrounds to enjoy equal rights and freedom, said in statement.
The Deputy President of European Parliament Libor Rouček welcomed the organization of this event which will be a good opportunity to get acquainted with the different aspects of Azerbaijani culture and confirmed that the EU which comprises 27 countries wants to have close political, economical and cultural relations with Azerbaijan because of its strategic importance.
The EU is looking for enhancing his cooperation with friends in the Eastern Partnership who must realize that they can rely on it, he concluded.
The Azerbaijani Culture Days will be held at the European Parliament on Nov. 10 -13. The event will take place within a joint project of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Azerbaijani Permanent Mission to the European Union.
A wide program has been developed to promote Azerbaijan and it will be presented to spectators in order to inform them about the country.
It is also planned to exhibit works of Azerbaijani artists and ethnographic miniatures at the European Parliament.
Within days of culture, young mugam singers will present folk music and "Stars of Baku" dance group - folk dances. The concert is also planned to address a jazz trio.
Participants of the Days of Culture will be able to get acquainted with one of the branches of the national culture - Azerbaijani cuisine.
