Georgian opposition looks to unite before local elections

Georgia, Tbilisi, Apr. 2 / Trend N.Kirtzkhalia /

Alliance for Georgia leader Sozar Subari and Save Georgia head Levan Gachechiladze will enter talks on joining forces in the local elections after the Easter holidays.

Subari believes that if the opposition unites its resources, then they will win the elections. He has said that he is open to opinions and suggestions.

"When the president launches a real or a virtual war, and the country becomes a distraction for him, this should stop once and for all. Despite differences of opinion, we must unite around this point," he said.

Subari said the main issue is to join efforts to fight the regime, and conflicting opinions can later be dealt with.

Subari urged the opposition not to call into question the country's fate and nominate 25 single candidates for all 25 electoral districts of Tbilisi.
