Azerbaijani Embassy in Hungary held in the central library of the Eotvos Lorand University (ELTE) an event on the 89th birth anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Books, booklets, albums, reflecting the life and work of the great politician and outstanding statesman Heydar Aliyev, as well as the development of modern Azerbaijan were presented at the event, the official website of the embassy says.
The event was attended by representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Hungary, Azerbaijani and Hungarian university students of Budapest, teachers, students and staff of the ELTE University Library.
Ambassador Vilayat Guliyev told about the life and activity of Heydar Aliyev, the invaluable contribution he made in the establishment and strengthening of Azerbaijan during the Soviet period and after independence, as well as the development of education and science in the country.
The Ambassador noted that the exhibited publications were donated to the Eotvos Lorand University's library. It was suggested to create sections of Azerbaijan and Heydar Aliyev in this library, existing for 450 years and storing more than 100,000 volumes.
Library Director Dr. Laszlo Sogi said that Hungary has a great interest in Azerbaijan as part of the Turkic world, and noted that the donated books will enable scientists and university students to become better acquainted with Azerbaijan.
He expressed a willingness to implement the book exchanges with universities in our country, in particular with the Baku State University.
Then, the event participants familiarized themselves with the exhibition.
