BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 12. Industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan produced goods worth 34.7 billion manat ($20.4 billion) from January through June 2023, which is 1.6 percent less in comparison with the same period last year, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, production in the oil and gas sector decreased by 2.3 percent, while it increased by 6.5 percent in the non-oil sector, during the reporting period of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.
A total of 69.5 percent of industrial output accounted for the mining sector, 25.3 percent - for the manufacturing industry, 4.4 percent - for the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, 0.8 percent - for the water supply, waste treatment and recycling sector.
Moreover, commercial oil production in Azerbaijan decreased by 7.7 percent, while commercial gas production increased by 3.2 percent, from January through June 2023 compared to the same period in 2022.
Wood processing and the production of wood goods doubled in the manufacturing sector, the production of computer, electronic and optical products - by 88.9 percent, the production of textile industry - 48.7 percent, the production of paper and cardboard - 35.7 percent, the production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers - 34.9 percent, the production of printing products - 33.3 percent, the production of drinks - 26.5 percent.
Production of finished metal products accounted for 21.5 percent, production of building materials - 20.3 percent, production of rubber and plastic mass products - 16 percent, food production - 11.9 percent, production of machinery and equipment - 10.9 percent, furniture - 7.2 percent, tobacco products - 7 percent, electrical equipment - 6.4 percent, chemical industry products - 3.1 percent.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the production of leather, shoes and leather goods decreased by 16.5 percent, vehicles - 18.8 percent, pharmaceutical products - 27.3 percent, clothing - 32.9 percent, metallurgical products - 33.7 percent, installation and repair of machinery and equipment - 37.2 percent.
Meanwhile, the volume of production in the sector of generation, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam increased by 3.6 percent, while in the sector of water supply, waste treatment and recycling - by 17 percent, in 2023 compared to 2022.
Industrial enterprises and individual entrepreneurs produced goods worth 86 billion manat ($50.5 billion) in 2022, which is 1.1 percent less compared to 2021, in Azerbaijan.
