Transportation of passengers by Azerbaijani Railway reduced 20 percent as a result of six months, head of PU Eliyar Muradov said on August 4.
"Situation with transportation of passengers is normal. Despite summer, index reduced outside Azerbaijan," Muradov said.
Muradov did not rule out further possible reduction of transportation of passengers outside Azerbaijan by late 2009.
Freights transportation is also reduced in the Azerbaijani Railway. So, freights transportation reduced 27 percent as a result of six months, chief engineer of CJSC Gurban Nazirov said.
Reduction of transportation is explained by continuing world financial-economic crisis.
Roughly 6.4 million people were transported by the Azerbaijani State Railway in 2008.
