The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry will take part in an extraordinary meeting of the U.N. Economic Commission for Europe's Transport Working Group April 2-23 in Geneva.
The ministry will be represented at the meeting by the head of the Coordination and Licensing Department's Coordination Sector Eldar Alizade, and the head of the Transport and Scientific and Technical Policy Department's Informatics Sector Ismayil Kerimov.
Azerbaijan joined a European agreement on international road transport May 31, 1996. The main purpose of the agreement is to ensure international transport safety. In order to ensure more effective control over operating regimes and crews engaged in international transport, an amendment was made to the agreement June 16, 2006, envisaging the use of a digital tachograph system.
