National Airline of Uzbekistan "Uzbekiston Havo Yullari" (Uzbekistan Airways) in the first quarter of 2010 increased its passenger transportation by 16,5 percent to 446,000 people compared to the same period of 2009, the Airline said.
In the first quarter the Airline carried out 5663 flights, which is 5 percent more than a year earlier, the average loading for per flight increased from 71 to 79 passengers.
According to the Airline, in the first quarter cargo transportation, including excess baggage and mail increased by 2.9 times -to 11,000 tons
Earlier it was reported that in 2009 "Uzbekistan Havo Yullari" carried passengers by 8.1 percent less than in 2008 - 1,885 million, the amount of freight as a result of 2009 increased by 20.3 per cent - to 26,700 tons
"Uzbekistan Airways" is the monopoly carrier in Uzbekistan. It is wholly owned by the state. Fleet of the company has about 15 Soviet-made aircrafts and 16 Western-built airliners, including 10 Boeing (five 767-300 and five 757-200), three Airbus A-310 and three medium-RJ-85.
Earlier it was reported that the Airline plans to purchase 16 Western-built airliners -Boeing and Airbus worth $1,136 billion.
Uzbek airline carries out flights to 21 cities in Europe, America, Middle East, Asia, to 22 cities of CIS countries and 11 directions on the local air routes.
