Georgian Ambassador to Turkey Giorgi Janjgava met with President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoglu, Trend reports citing Georgian media.
The parties discussed issues of bilateral economic cooperation and prospects for deepening ties between business circles of Georgia and Turkey.
Georgian Ambassador informed Hisarcıklıoglu about the economic reforms being carried out in Georgia, the leading positions of Georgia in international ratings, as well as about investment opportunities and initiatives of the government of the country in this area.
In turn, Hisarcıklıoglu expressed interest in developing close relations between the Union and Georgian partners and identifying specific areas for future cooperation.
The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey is the largest legal entity representing the private sector in Turkey. It includes 365 chambers of commerce and a stock exchange.
Turkey ranks first in Georgian commodity circulation.
In 2019, total imports to Georgia from Turkey amounted to $1.6 billion. In turn, Georgia exported goods worth $202.3 million to Turkey.
The foreign trade turnover of Georgia with Turkey in 2019 exceeded $1.8 billion, which is 14.1 percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia.
