Georgia intends to conclude free trade agreement with India

The feasibility study on establishing a free trade regime between India and Georgia has already been completed, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Genadi Arveladze said, Trend reports citing the Georgian media.

According to Arveladze, in the near future, the first round of negotiations will be held and the parties will coordinate subsequent actions.

The deputy minister noted that the free trade regime will bring benefits to both Georgia and India, lead to increased turnover and investment and create new business opportunities.

Arveladze said that the draft text of a free trade agreement with India is ready.

Meanwhile, a study on the feasibility of free trade between Israel and Georgia is also completed.

“A free trade agreement with Israel will benefit our country and will be useful in terms of increasing the competitiveness of Georgian exports in the Israeli market,” Arveladze said.

Currently, Georgia has a free trade agreement with the EU, the countries of the European Free Trade Association, Turkey, Hong Kong and China.

The possibility of signing similar agreements with Japan and the US is being actively discussed.
