The project on delivery of the Azerbaijani liquefied gas via the Black Sea to Romania can be further expanded due to including Bulgaria, Ukraine and Moldova, Minister of Industry and Energy Minister of Azerbaijan Natik Aliyev said on April 15 in Baku after a meeting with EU Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger.

"The project on delivery of the Azerbaijani liquefied natural gas is important both for Romania and Azerbaijan. Perhaps, in the future, after establishing additional compressor stations [on the Black Sea terminals] Azerbaijani liquefied gas will be supplied to Moldova, Ukraine, Bulgaria," said the minister.

On April 13, Azerbaijan, Romania and Georgia signed a memorandum on the project AGRI (Azerbaijan Georgia Romania Interconnect), which envisages the supply of liquefied gas from the Azerbaijani terminals in the Black Sea to Romania.

The construction of an Azerbaijani gas-processing terminal on Georgia's Black Sea coast and transporting the gas by ship to Romania or Bulgaria for further shipment to Europe's domestic gas pipeline network are issues under discussion. The project is being considered in two directions - LNG and CNG.
