Iran increases its electricity imports

Iran exported 4,918 gigawatt-hours of electricity to neighboring countries from early 2010, which is 6.12 percent more than the same period last year, the Iranian Energy Ministry's official website reported.

The amount of electricity imports in the reported period of this year amounted to 2,503 gigawatt-hours compared to 1,709 gigawatt-hours last year, the report said.

Iran exchanges energy with Azerbaijan, Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Armenia and Afghanistan.
