Babayeva/ The forecast about the rise in revenues of IT sector of country up to that of oil sector is quite real, Elmir Valizade, the deputy minister of communication and information technologies said while answering the questions in Internet-Forum of ANSPRESS.
"Several years ago, the center under the World Trade Organization announced that there is such potential in Azerbaijan," he said.
According to Ministry of Communication estimations, the project on establishment of regional innovation zone in Azerbaijan will contribute to the rise in the revenues of IT sector up to $4bln by 2012, up to the level of oil revenues by 2018-2020 which will total to $10-12bln and will further grow. The project regional innovation zone (RIZ) envisages the establishment of techno parks for the development of small and medium innovational entrepreneurship, regional basis on production and export of electrical equipment and software, making country a profitable transit and information center (Data Center), development of human resources for the emerging information society and introduction of information technologies in various areas.
According to Valizade, Azerbaijan has a favorable condition for high revenues from IT.
"Azerbaijani companies are producing computing equipment, realizing programming products, off-shore programming in both regional and international level," he said.
Al these opportunities points to the opportunities of the country, Deputy Minister said.
