Kazakhstan boosts grain transportation by rail

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 3. The volume of grain transportation in Kazakhstan by rail amounted to 9.4 million tons from January through October 2023, which is 24 percent higher than the same period last year, Trend reports.

Grain exports increased by 29 percent and amounted to 7.7 million tons. 1.7 million tons were transported within the country, which is 4 percent more than last year.

Loading of grinding products for 10 months of this year increased by 4 percent, to 2.5 million tons. At the same time, 1.8 million tons were shipped for export, an increase of 7 percent.

The main markets for Kazakh grain and grinding products remain the countries of Central Asia, Afghanistan, Iran, Russia and China.

Over 10 months, grain transportation to Uzbekistan increased by 24 percent, Tajikistan by 9 percent, Turkmenistan by 78 percent, and Russia by 56 percent. Grain loading to Kyrgyzstan has doubled, and grain loading to China has tripled.

In October, over 900,000 tons of grain and 283,000 tons of grinding products were transported. Within the country, transportation of grain increased by 25 percent, and grinding products by 42 percent.
