ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 1. Inflation in Kazakhstan slowed down over the year and amounted to 9.3 percent in February 2024 (in January 2024–9.5 percent), Trend reports.
The country's Bureau of National Statistics' data shows that prices for food products over the year increased by 7.4 percent (in January 2023–8.2 percent), for non-food products - by 8.5 percent (in January 2023–8.6 percent), for paid services - by 12.8 percent (in January 2023–12.3 percent).
In monthly terms, inflation increased compared to the previous month and amounted to 1.1 percent. Prices for food products over the month increased by 0.8 percent, for non-food products - by 0.7 percent, for paid services - by 1.7 percent.
In addition, compared to February 2023, price increases were noted for sewerage by 33.9 percent, central heating - by 30.9 percent, cold water - by 30.8 percent, hot water - by 29.4 percent, etc.
Among the regions, the highest monthly inflation was registered in the Karaganda region - 1.9 percent (above the republican average by 0.8 percentage points), the lowest - in Abay and Almaty regions, 0.5 percent each.
