Kazakhstan, Dutch VISCON come to terms over automated center building

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 10. Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture and the Dutch VISCON signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of an automated center for the production of virus-free planting itsms using artificial intelligence, Trend reports.

The document was signed in Astana with the support of the Dutch Embassy in Kazakhstan and Kazakh Invest.

The effort will contribute to improving the sustainability, quality, and yield of cultivated plants, and ensuring food security.

Within the project's framework, the sides will implement AI technology and in vitro cultivation techniques.

The plan calls for implementing the project in 2024–2026 and producing 12 million seedlings annually.

Meanwhile, the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands amounted to $4.449 billion in 2023. The volume of trade turnover decreased by 23 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($5.785 billion).

During the above period, exports to the Netherlands totaled $4.057 billion, while imports totaled $391.9 million.
