ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 17. The volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Asian countries amounted to $18.5 billion from January through May 2024, which is 9.7 percent less than for the same period in 2023 ($20.5 billion), Trend reports.
Data from the country's Bureau of National Statistics shows that the volume of exports to Asian countries amounted to $9.6 billion. And this is 10.2 percent lower than the figure for January-May 2023 ($10.7 billion).
At the same time, imports from Asian countries during the above period decreased by 9.2 percent and amounted to $8.9 billion. From January through May 2023, imports amounted to $9.8 billion.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's trade turnover with Asian countries amounted to $53.6 billion from January through December 2023. The volume of trade turnover increased by 9.3 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($49 billion).
Exports to Asian countries for the above period amounted to $27.8 billion, which is 10.9 percent less than from January through December 2022 ($31.2 billion).
Moreover, imports from Asian countries from January through December 2023 increased by 44.7 percent and amounted to $25.7 billion. In 2022, imports amounted to $17.8 billion.
