DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 12. In Tajikistan, through various payment methods (interbank, through direct correspondent relationships, and via correspondent accounts opened in the National Bank of Tajikistan) over 395.9 million transactions were carried out totaling 1.705 trillion somoni ($156.079 billion) in 2023, Trend reports.
According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, the number of transactions increased by 46.8 percent compared to the same period last year, while the total value of transactions increased by 8.4 percent.
As of December 31, 2023, credit financial organizations had opened 11.2 million bank accounts for clients, of which 11.1 million accounts belonged to individuals and 130,000 accounts to legal entities.
The number of client bank accounts in credit financial organizations increased by 2.8 million, or 33.1 percent, compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, 63 credit financial organizations operated in the country as of the end of December 2023, including 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit organization, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 25 microcredit funds.
