ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 30. Farmers of the Dashoguz region located in the north of Turkmenistan are preparing for the upcoming silkworm cocoon harvesting season, Trend reports.
Official estimates indicate that approximately 500 tons of
silkworm cocoons will be collected in the region this season.
The successful implementation of this responsible campaign is
dependent on local hatcheries adhering to the set regulations,
which include disinfecting the premises and creating optimal
circumstances for successful incubation.
At the same time, silk breeders have taken the required steps to
guarantee that the hatcheries are in good condition in terms of
temperature, lighting, ventilation, air humidity, and other
factors.
Turkmenistan expects to gather around 2,100 tons of silkworm
cocoons this year, with the Lebap region in the country's east
planning the biggest volume of product collection (1,010 tons).
Overall, during the last year, farms around Turkmenistan
collected more than 2,300 tons of silkworm cocoons, substantially
exceeding the plan.
One of Turkmenistan's most important agricultural products is silk,
which is predominantly produced in the Mary, Ahal, and Lebap
districts.
The Ashgabat Silk Factory and the Turkmenabat Silk Production
Association are among Turkmenistan's top sericulture firms.
