ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, May 10. Afghanistan spent circa $64 million last year on power imports from Turkmenistan, Trend reports.
According to official data, during the corresponding period, the country also purchased electricity from Tajikistan ($71 million) and Iran ($48 million).
Furthermore, Afghanistan plans to purchase 6.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity this year by signing contracts with Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Iran.
Meanwhile, at the beginning of this year, Turkmenistan and DABS Energy Company signed an agreement for the supply of 1.8 billion kilowatt-hours in 2024.
While visiting Turkmenistan, DABS CEO Muhammad Hanif Hamza signed the contract with Energy Minister Annageldi Saparov and Turkmenenergo State Electric Power Corporation management.
