ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, August 2. Afghanistan and Turkmenistan will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in August for the construction of a warehouse complex, or "dry port," at Turgundi station in Afghanistan, Trend reports.

The agreement was finalized during a working visit to Afghanistan by a delegation from Turkmendemiryollary (Turkmenistan Railways).

Afghan officials validated the warehousing complex's land allocation and offered Turkmenistan topographic maps. They also reached an agreement on the scheme for the return on investment.

Additionally, the parties agreed to finalize a joint work plan in August for the first phase of the Turgundi-Sanabar section of the Turgundi-Herat railway. Discussions also included the establishment of a working group to enhance cargo transportation between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.

The Afghan side highlighted the need to reassess tariffs and expressed willingness to support the transportation of goods through the Lapis Lazuli Corridor.

The Turgundi-Herat line will be part of a new railway corridor stretching from Turgundi to Herat, Kandahar, and Spin Boldak, connecting Turkmenistan's western border with Afghanistan, Pakistan, and extending into India.
