Uzbekistan will reform its automotive industry by the end of 2022, Trend reports via the Uzbek media outlets.
The president of Uzbekistan set the task of producing at least 160,000 cars by May 2022 to meet the needs of the domestic market.
By the end of 2022, the timely supply of the necessary components for the production of 275,000 cars will be established. Also, the cost of cars will be reduced by at least 5 percent, and localization will be increased to $100 million.
Three new projects including the production of Chevrolet Tracker, Onix, as well as the new engines, with an investment of $336 million will be launched.
In addition, the creation of a national machine-building cluster, which will include eight large machine-building enterprises will be organized.
