Uzbekistan shares vegetable harvest volume in 1H2024

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 30. All types of farms in Uzbekistan produced 3.4 million tons of vegetables from January through June 2024, Trend reports.

According to the data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, this figure represents a 3 percent growth compared to the same period last year (3.3 million tons in January–June 2023).

The country's farms produced 474,100 tons of vegetables, dehkan (large private farms that belong to legal entities), subsidiary farms (2.8 million tons), and agricultural organizations (88,300 tons).

During this period, a significant share of vegetable production fell on the Surkhandarya region (17.7 percent), among Uzbekistan's regions. Andijan region (17.5 percent) ranked second, followed by Fergana region (13.1 percent). Karakalpakstan (1.5 percent) and the Jizzakh region (1.8 percent) had the lowest share.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan exported 1 million tons of fruit and vegetables worth $607.3 million from January through June 2024. This figure has increased by 4.6 percent compared to the same period last year (955,200 tons in January–June 2023).

Russia accounted for the largest volume of horticultural product exports from Uzbekistan, with a total volume of 348,400 tons worth $250.1 million. Kazakhstan ranked second with 335,800 tons of exports worth $101.7 million, followed by Pakistan with 89,000 tons of horticultural products exported worth $92.7 million from January through June 2024.
