Iran's non-oil exports see uptick

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 26. Iran's non-oil exports increased by 18 percent in value and 14.6 percent in weight during the eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023), Iran's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance and Director General of Customs Administration Foroud Asghari told local media, Trend reports.

According to him, Iran's non-oil exports amounted to about 104 million tons worth about $38.2 billion during the eight months.

Asghari added that during the eight months, Iran mainly exported products worth $9.9 billion to China, $8.3 billion to Iraq, $4.8 billion to the UAE, $4.4 billion to Türkiye, $1.6 billion to Afghanistan, $1.5 billion to Pakistan, and $1.2 billion to India. The 7 mentioned countries accounted for 82.9 percent of Iran's product exports in value terms and 82.2 percent in weight terms.

The official noted that the main goods exported by Iran are $1.5 billion worth of liquefied natural gas, $2.2 billion worth of propane, and $1.7 billion worth of methanol.

To note, Iran has been making efforts to increase non-oil trade in recent years.
