BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 5. The export of non-oil products to Iraq via Sumar Customs in Kermanshah Province, nestled in western Iran, saw a leap of 20 percent in value and an 18 percent uptick in weight over the past eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 to November 20, 2024) when stacked against the same timeframe last year (from March 21 to November 21, 2023), controller of customs of Iran's Kermanshah province, Ali Asghar Abbaszadeh said, Trend reports.
He claims that over the course of eight months, Iran's Sumar Customs exported 1.26 million tons of non-oil products to Iraq for about $585 million.
Abbaszadeh added that Sumar Customs primarily exports hardware, marble, disposable utensils, and rubber products.
During the mentioned period, the official noted that the Sumar customs office exported 584,000 tons of non-oil products worth $229 million to Iraq via customs offices located in other provinces of Iran. Compared to the same period last year, it increased by 25 percent in value and decreased by 20 percent in weight terms.
Iran's Kermanshah province enjoys a 371-kilometer border with Iraq. Two customs and five border markets operate in this province. This province exports products worth $3 billion annually through its customs and border markets.
To note, Iran's exports of non-oil products during eight months of the current Iranian year (March 20-November 2024) amounted to about 104 million tons worth about $38.2 billion. Iran's exports of non-oil products increased by 18 percent in value and 14.6 percent in weight compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023).
