BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 12. A total of 391,000 tons of products worth about $1.38 billion were imported through the customs of East Azerbaijan Province, located in the northwest of Iran, during eight months of the current Iranian year (from 20 March through 20 November 2024), Sadegh Namdar, controller of customs in Iran's East Azerbaijan Province, told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, for eight months the import of products through the customs of East Azerbaijan Province increased by 29 percent in value and 21 percent in weight compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023).
Namdar noted that goods from Türkiye, China, the UAE, Germany, and Japan were imported through the province's customs for eight months.
The official added that mainly vehicles and spare parts, gold bars, red meat, production equipment, tobacco, wood, and timber were imported through provincial customs offices.
Iran's imports of non-oil products totaled 24.5 million tons worth $45.1 billion during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 2024). During the eight months, Iran's imports of non-oil products increased by 6.9 percent in value and decreased by 1.73 percent in weight compared to last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023).
To note, Iran mainly focuses on importing necessary goods needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the import of products manufactured in the country.
