A suicide bomber killed ten civilians and three policemen in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, a local government office said, DPA reported.
The bomber detonated his suicide vest at a checkpoint in the Alisher district of Khost province where policemen were having lunch, the provincial governor's office said in a statement.
Two children were among those killed in the attack.
The statement said the attack was an "inhuman and cruel" act by the enemies of Afghanistan, words usually used to describe Taliban militants.
Taliban militants have been waging a decade-long insurgency against Afghan and NATO troops.
