Georgian Parliament Approves New Ambassadors

Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec. 16 / Trend corr N.Kirtzkhalia / The Georgian Parliament approved new ambassadors to the Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel and the Republic of Cyprus at the session on Dec. 16. Nino Nakashidze, former MP and chairman of the parliamentary committee on Euro-Atlantic integration, was appointed the ambassador to the Czech Republic at the previous session of the parliament. 

According to Michael Machavariani, vice-speaker of the Parliament, Prague is an important partner of Tbilisi as it will preside in the European Union since beginning of January, 2009. "Presently, the Czech Republic is experiencing hard times. I hope the current majority in the Czech Parliament will remain unchanged and we will again have a strong support from this country," Machavariani said.      

In its sitting on Dec. 16 the Parliament appointed Vladimir Konstantinidi, former Georgian consul to Israel, the ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus and Vakhtang Jaoshvili, who worked at the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1997, the ambassador to Israel.
