Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) President Movlud Cavusoglu received an honorary doctorate from the Azerbaijan Languages University.
Cavusoglu met with teachers and students today at the university.
The university's Rector Samad Seyidov said Cavusoglu has done a great deal for Azerbaijan's integration into Europe and the introduction of European values in the country. The University Scientific Council decided to award Cavusoglu an honorary doctorate.
Azerbaijan is an important country for the Council of Europe, Cavusoglu said, adding that Azerbaijan needs the structure's help to integrate into Europe.
"I could not get a doctorate in connection with my political activities, but today I am being awarded an honorary doctorate," Cavusoglu said.
Cavusoglu is on official visit to Azerbaijan from April 13. Today, Cavusoglu will visit the Ganja region (365 kilometers from Baku).
