Baku discusses cooperation between Azerbaijani and Turkish law enforcement agencies (UPDATE)

The Azerbaijani Interior Minister, Colonel General Ramil Usubov and Chief of the Turkish Gendarmerie Forces, Army General Necdet Ozal discussed issues of the cooperation development in Baku today.

Azerbaijani Interior Minister Usubov highly appreciated the current level of relations between the structures of the two countries, the Turkish Gendarmerie Forces' material and technical assistance to the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry's troops.  

Minister noted that much work had been done in this sphere in accordance with October 31, 1997 Intergovernmental Protocol on Cooperation between Gendarmerie Forces and Internal Troops General Office. Moreover, he spoke about the activity of training center of Internal Troops built in Gala settlement.

According to Usubov, one of the key values that Azerbaijan gained after its independence is the development of fraternal ties with Turkey. According to him, today at the high level, President Ilham Aliyev continues the policy of "one nation, two states" laid by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

The Minister said that this visit would positively impact on development of relations and that potential opportunities of the relevant bodies would be used effectively.

According to Ozal, he was satisfied with his visit to Azerbaijan and appreciated the fruitful joint activities of relevant agencies. Remembering the words of the great leader Ataturk "joy of Azerbaijan is our joy, its sorrow is our sorrow", Ozal said that in future he would make every efforts for the development of army and internal forces.

The meeting was also attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic, deputy interior ministers of Azerbaijan Vilayat Eyvazov, Asker Alekperov, Zakir Hasanov and other officials.
