ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 6. An aviation hub is to be developed in the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan, which will include direct aircraft fuel supply, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov said during a meeting on the development of the Mangistau region, Trend reports.

The government was informed that the Comprehensive Plan for Socio-Economic Development of Mangistau Region from 2021 through 2023 resulted in a 50 percent increase in the gross regional product, reaching $9 million. A total of 259 activities are planned for implementation until 2025, with a budget of $3,6 million.

Given the strategic importance of Mangistau for the country's transport and logistics sector, infrastructure development issues were discussed, including the planned reconstruction of 680 km of republican-level highways and the construction of a container hub at the Aktau port.

Olzhas Bektenov also emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to attract potential investors to expand the "Morpot Aktau" free economic zone.

In turn, the Minister of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan, Kanat Sharlapayev, reported that efforts are underway to find investors for creating permanent jobs in the industry. Currently, 19 prospective projects worth $3 million are being developed, which will create 3,900 jobs.

It is also worth noting that as part of the Comprehensive Plan, aimed at the long-term development of Mangistau as an international beach tourism center, 64 projects totaling $330,200 are planned by 2030, with private investment involvement.
