BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. Azerbaijan invested $14.5 million in Hong Kong's economy in 2024, marking a substantial decrease compared to the previous year.
Data obtained by Trend from the Azerbaijan Central Bank indicates that this figure represents a $66.3 million reduction, or a 5.6-fold decrease, from 2023.
The share of Azerbaijani investments in Hong Kong's total foreign direct investments stood at 0.8 percent.
Moreover, Azerbaijan's investment in Hong Kong amounted to $80.8 million in 2023.
For context, foreign direct investments (FDI) in Azerbaijan's economy in 2024 exceeded $7 billion, reflecting a growth of $388.1 million, or 5.83 percent, compared to 2023.
Meanwhile, in the reporting period, Azerbaijan directed $1.8 billion in FDI to foreign economies, showing a 43.3 percent decrease or $1.4 billion less than the figures for 2023.
