TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 21. Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom reviewed prospects for further expanding and strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, Trend reports via the Uzbek MFA.

The discussions took place during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Muzaffar Madrakhimov, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Uzbekistan, Timothy Smart.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the increasing momentum in their bilateral relations and emphasized the series of high-level visits and engagements that have taken place in recent years. They acknowledged that there remains significant untapped potential for further expanding trade, economic, and investment relations between the two nations.

An agreement was reached to ensure continued close coordination in 2026, which will include organizing joint events, facilitating mutual exchanges of delegations, conducting inter-ministerial political consultations, and pursuing other collaborative initiatives to strengthen cooperation.

Meanwhile, Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration, highlighted that Uzbekistan continues to attract an increasing number of British companies, with over 270 firms now operating within the country. Official data indicates that the total trade in goods and services between the United Kingdom and Uzbekistan reached a record 1.3 billion pounds sterling ($1.63 billion) during the four quarters leading up to the first quarter of 2025, marking an all-time high in bilateral trade.
